Description

The Calibration Key for SureTemp 690/692 Thermometers is an original Welch Allyn (SureTemp) accessory designed to verify the calibration accuracy of SureTemp Plus 690 and 692 electronic thermometers. The key connects in place of the standard probe and presents a fixed reference value so the thermometer can be checked against a known temperature (36.3 °C / 97.3 °F). It is recommended that the instrument be tested at least annually, or whenever its clinical accuracy is in doubt. Usage

Use only with compatible Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus 690 and 692 thermometers.
1. Remove any probe currently connected to the SureTemp Plus thermometer.
2. Connect the SureTemp Calibration Key firmly into the probe port.
3. Wait approximately one minute for the device to enter Monitor mode and display the temperature.
4. Verify that the displayed temperature reads 36.3 °C ± 0.1 °C or 97.3 °F ± 0.2 °F.
5. If the reading is within the specified range, the device calibration is verified; if it falls outside this range, follow your organisation’s procedure for further testing, adjustment or service.
6. Remove the SureTemp Calibration Key.
7. Reconnect the original probe to the thermometer before returning it to clinical use.
It is recommended that each SureTemp 690/692 thermometer be tested at least annually, and additionally whenever there is reason to suspect inaccuracy (e.g. after repair, dropping the device, or unusual clinical readings).

Contraindications

Not for use with thermometers other than Welch Allyn SureTemp Plus 690/692 models unless explicitly specified by the manufacturer.
Not a clinical thermometer or patient-contact device; must not be used for measuring patient temperature.
Do not attempt to modify, open or repair the calibration key; damage may invalidate calibration and lead to incorrect test results.

Adverse Effects

No direct patient adverse effects are expected, as the device is not used on patients.
